Quality Factors in FRP Gratings
What factors determine the quality of FRP grating
The quality of FRP grating is determined by two main raw materials:
1. Glass fiber: There are three types of glass fibers available - high alkali, medium alkali, and alkali-free. The choice of glass fiber should be based on the corrosiveness of the environment in which the product will be used. For optimal assurance, it is recommended to use alkali-free glass fiber.
2. Resin: Four commonly used unsaturated resins for FRP grating are phenolic, vinyl, o-phthalic, and isophthalic. Each resin type possesses unique characteristics such as corrosiveness, color, acid and alkali resistance, and flame retardancy. When selecting FRP grating, it is advisable to consider these indicators to make an informed purchase decision.
The characteristics of FRP grating include corrosion resistance against various chemical media, long service life, rust-free properties, and maintenance-free nature. Additionally, FRP grating is flame retardant, insulating, non-magnetic, slightly elastic, lightweight, high-strength, easy to cut and install, and offers design flexibility with diverse dimensions and stable dimensions.
As the market evolves with economic development and technological progress, new products emerge while old ones gradually phase out. Although substitutes like pp board, ppr board, pvc board, and other plastic materials have reduced, FRP grating, as a new composite material, is making a comeback. This resurgence can be attributed to fundamental changes in the main raw materials used in its production.
